Power distribution is the delivery system of electricity to places that use it, such as homes and other buildings. It is done mainly by power lines, transformers, substations and meters. The electricity comes from the power station at high voltage and is delivered at medium to low voltage levels.
Distribution is the process of reducing power to safe customer-usable levels, and delivering the electric power to the grid. The power level is reduced by step-down transformers, which lower the voltage of the electricity from dangerous levels to safer levels. The entire distribution grid includes lines, poles, transformers, and switching and protection circuits that deliver safe electrical power. Cables that are used is medium voltage cable, either underground cables or aerial cables.

ACSR-Aluminium Conductor Steel Reinforced
ACSR Introduction is a kind of concentric-lay-stranded conductors made from round aluminium 1350-H19 (extra hard) wires and round, coated steel core wires.
The core can be single wire or stranded depending on the required size. Steel core is available in Class A, B or C galvanization for corrosion protection and different tensile requirements.
Additional corrosion protection is available through the application of grease to the core or infusion of the completed conductor with grease.
ACSR Features With simple structure, ACSR is easy to set up and maintain,Low cost and high transmission capacity, High mechanical strength,high tensile strength.
The principal advantage are their high tensile strength and light weight,covering longer spans with less supports. Due to the greater diameter of an ACSR conductor much
higher corona limit can be obtained, giving a big advantage on high and extra highvoltage overhead lines.
ACSR Application ACSR is available in a range of steel strengths varying from 6% up to 40% mainly for power transmission and distribution line.
The higher strength ACSR conductors are used for river crossings, overhead earth wires,and installations involving extra long spans. Against any given resistance
of conductor,ACSR conductor may be manufactured to have different tensile strengths as per requirement.

To manufacture Copperclad Steel Wire, carbon steel (low, high strength and extra high strength) is bonded with a uniform
layer of oxygen-free coppercladding to achieve 30% and 40% IACS (International Annealed Copper Standard) conductivities.
